JACK FROST: The first frost of winter, personified. He moonlights as a hardboiled private eye and tries to play the part. He is loyal and persistent, if not a bit thoughtless when communicating with those close to him. People know and revere him around Winterville. He is often seen with his trenchcoat, hat, and peppermints.
HOLLY JOLLY: Assistant and secretary to Jack Frost. She is a bit too charmed and perhaps starstruck by Jack, which often leads her to undervalue herself. She is poised to discover her potential. Holly is sweet and good- natured, but she does not like pushy people. She wears green.
SANTA CLAUS: He’s the Santa we know and love. He is also a little head-in-the clouds, and, like Jack, he may not always consider others before asserting himself. He is deeply in love with Mrs. Claus, and he tries to shield her from trouble. Santa’s love for Winterville is genuine, as are his intentions with his ice sculpture gift.
MRS. CLAUS/JESSICA: The best part of every grandmother everywhere, all baked into one: first lady of Winterville, with her bonnet, glasses, and cloak. She leads many of the celebratory aspects of Winterville, keeping the spirit bright in individuals and inspiring all. There may be more to her, however. She may have quite a bit more influence than anyone suspects.
RUDOLPH: The Red-Nosed Reindeer. He is down in the dumps right now, his self-worth very low. His sense of joy and wonder has been growing dim, and recent events have only made things worse. He often resorts to cocoa to increase his self-esteem.
CLARICE: Clarice is a reindeer with a strong personality, and she is not afraid to assert it. She is a little less buttoned-up, and a little more wrong-side- of-the-tracks. She is Rudolph’s partner and we get the impression she is the more dominant personality in their relationship. She loves him deeply, however, and only wants what’s best for him.
SNOW MISER: He is Mr. White Christmas, Mr. Snow. Snow Miser is preoccupied with fortifying himself in his mountaintop lair, but who’s to say he would stop there? He is a bit hammy, and he likes to perform for any who will listen, despite being introverted by nature. A rather slender figure who dresses in blues and whites–quite gaudily.
HEAT MISER: The younger brother of Snow Miser, and his foil, despite being cut from the same cloth. He is every bit as hammy as Snow, but perhaps more ambitious. Both he and his brother seem to see themselves as above everyone who isn’t a Miser, and Heat’s vanity and rage make him easy to manipulate.
ABOMINABLE: The large and seemingly ferocious “Bumble.” He is physically a bit uncouth and certainly liable to slip into moods befitting his name of “Monster,” but he is generally a kind, calm, and well-spoken figure. A big loveable goof. He prides himself on his eloquent speaking and does not, in fact, hate Christmas.
HERMEY: A blonde elf from Santa’s workshop who never really fit in due to his interest in dentistry above toy-making. Hermey has been played left, right, and center. He is physically small (perhaps more in his mind than in reality) and his insecurities have made him easy to manipulate. His delusions and grandiosity may have been encouraged by the influence of shady figures.
YUKON: A bearded, burly and often outspoken former prospector who was once the acquaintance of Rudolph, Hermey, and Abominable. He has settled into running his cocoa tavern, and he is a bit more miserly than even Heat or Snow. He doesn’t tolerate a lot of nonsense, and he’s unafraid to say so. He holds Christmas and SOCK Fest in the highest regard.
SPRING: As the personification of the first season in the cycle, Spring is quite immature and, like a teenager, feels that she has the whole world figured out, and is more than willing to impose her own reforms on it. She is not evil, just ambitious and self-centered, though she fancies herself as something of a surreptitious mastermind.
JINGLE & JANGLE: Two red-clad elves from Santa’s workshop, who have wound up as the only two employees at Heat Miser workshop–they are not especially productive. They are a bit dense and spacey, but they tolerate the unpleasant conditions of their world with a pleasant, easy-going attitude.
ICE MINIONS: The Ice Minions are the “children” of the Snow Miser, who uses magic to fashion them out of snow. They are loyal to the Snow Miser insofar as they recognize their lot in life is to be his labor force. They are somewhat distinct in their personalities:
- GREGG: Snow’s newest minion. Gentle, naive and excited by the world around him.
- MISTLETOE: The most by-the-books of the minions. Mistletoe is the supervisor of their shift, and takes the role seriously.
- GARLAND: Garland goes with the flow, and serves as a bit of a yes-man.
- YULE: An optimist, through and through.
- WENCESLAUS: A perpetual pessimist.
- FIGGY: Figgy has a unique perspective and often expresses thoughts with beat poetry.
TINSEL & PEPPERMINSTIX: Two childish elves who are loud, obnoxious, and obsessed with placing bets and one-upping each other.
CHARLIE & SPOT: A couple shady misfit toys. Loyal to their boss and willing to take matters into their own hands when necessary.
